Geoffrey Bolton Library Refurbishment - FAQs

What’s happening on Level 3?

On Level 3, we are opening the Launchpad, a creative innovation space for students, employers, professional bodies, innovators and entrepreneurs to come together to work on collaborative projects, attend events and seminars, learn from industry leaders and access support from Murdoch’s Careers and Work Integrated Learning teams.

What’s happening on Level 2?

On Level 2, we are giving the 24/7 Learning Commons a facelift!  When it reopens, there will be an entirely new suite of furniture to make sure you can find the perfect place to do independent study, or to work with a group of peers.

When and where are the works happening?

The works will be starting from midday Saturday November 25th 2017, and will carry on through the non-semester teaching period.  The works are happening in the 24/7 Learning Commons on Level 2, and the High Demand area and Learning Commons on Level 3.  The 24/7 Learning Common will be closed for the duration of the works.

What won’t change during construction?

You can still enter the Library through the doors on Bush Court. It will be business as usual for:
  • the Library and IT Help Desks
  • the Guild Service Counter
  • Café Kadj
  • Murdoch Print
  • Club M
To get to Club M, just follow the signs to the Club M courtyard through the door on South Wing Level 1.

How can I access and borrow books during construction?

The collection will be available to you throughout the whole construction period. The self-check machines at the front of the Library will be in the same place; borrow books just like you usually would.

How do I access the High Demand Collection during construction?

The High Demand Collection will be available in the front of the Library, through the Bush Court entrance.  You will be able to borrow High Demand books for the usual time periods, using the self-check machines in the front of the Library.

How do I access computers to study during construction?

There will be a reduced number of computers available in the Library during construction. You will be able to find computers on all levels of the Library South Wing.

There are a number of computer labs across campus that will continue to operate as normal.  Some of these are available 24/7.  Find a list of computer labs on the IT Services webpage, and check out the Campus Map to find the one that is most convenient for you.

Who can I contact for help?

The Library team will be on hand to help you with any queries you have during the construction period.  Just drop by the service desk on Level 3, just inside the entrance of Bush Court, or visit the Contact Us page on our website.
