Access issues with ProQuest, WestLaw and LexisNexis databases

The University Library and IT Services are investigating access problems affecting ProQuest and LexisNexis databases. We're working with these vendors to identify and resolve the issues. Intermittent access to WestLaw is also an ongoing issue.

We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and the effect it has on your research and studies.

We'll continue to post updates as the situation changes.

Free to Share

The University Library is excited to announce its latest initiative, Free to Share, which will make it easier to find and share free and open online resources through our website.

A new portal on our homepage will quickly take you to a range of free resources, as well as provide guidance on how to use and share these for a wide variety of purposes.

Click the Free to Share graphic on our homepage or visit goto.murdoch.edu.au/FreetoShare.

We'd love your feedback about this initiative, and recommendations of resources to add to Free to Share. Email Us with your comments and suggestions.

Selected online resources possibly unavailable - Sunday October 30th

Due to planned maintenance by our service providers, access to selected online resources may be intermittent or unavailable on Sunday October 30th from 12am-7am (Perth time).

Some links to full text in Findit and databases may be affected.

If you experience access problems outside of this time, please contact digitallibraryservices@murdoch.edu.au.

New resource alert - Sage Video: Media, Communications & Cultural Studies

The University Library now has access to the ’Sage Video: Media, Communications & Cultural Studies’ database, a collection of over 600 videos offering academic viewpoints and real-life insights within these disciplines.

Watch tutorials, in-practice examples and theory definitions delivered by experts and academics; very helpful for study and research!

Global & Regional Creative Sustainability Exhibition

Students from the unit ENV245: Global and Regional Sustainability have put together creative works that are now on display at the University Library.

These works tackle complex sustainability issues from a fresh angle and hope to open up different ways of responding to the problem whilst offering possibilities for moving beyond it.

The exhibition will be on display in the Library foyer and Level 3 Learning Common until Wednesday 2nd November.

University Library to be renamed in honour of Professor Geoffrey Bolton

We are delighted to announce that the University Library is to be renamed in honour of prominent historian and Murdoch icon, the late Professor Geoffrey Bolton.

The renaming recognises Professor Bolton’s wonderful contribution to Murdoch and the Western Australian community and ensures his legacy lives through the University Library. Professor Bolton was a passionate supporter of the Library which he continued to use as a base for his research until his death in 2015.

University Librarian Susan Ashcroft said the Library is humbled and honoured to be part of Professor Bolton’s legacy. “We look forward to ensuring his spirit of knowledge and wisdom lives on for many generations to come.”

The Library will be known as the Geoffrey Bolton Library and an official dedication ceremony and public exhibition will take place in the new year.
